Clara wasn't just launching a website — she was launching a business: a yoga studio built on memberships, retreats, and private coaching. But every competitor site looked like a default template, and none of them made membership — or the retreats that made up most of her actual work — feel like the main event.

/Introduction [02]

What was the problem and why it mattered.

A benchmark of solo yoga instructor and studio websites, paired with close collaboration with Clara, revealed a category full of generic templates and buried offers.

Data signals

8/10 solo yoga platforms relied on generic website templates or course-builder platforms
7/10 made it difficult to discover the right class, with limited filtering by level, duration, or practice type
6/10 prioritized promoting individual classes over helping users build a long-term practice
9/10 lacked a clear membership value proposition above the fold

What benchmark revealed

Competitors buried what actually mattered — real expertise, real photography, a clear membership offer — behind generic templates.

Problem to solve [03]

The question that framed the work.

How might we make Clara's membership, retreats, and coaching feel like one clear, custom-built offer instead of a generic wellness template?

Studio views — a locked door you can see through

Categories and filters are open to everyone — visitors can browse the full list of practices before subscribing. But single video pages stay locked until membership, giving a clear preview of value without giving away the product itself.

Retreats — from browsing to requesting

An index page lists upcoming retreats alongside photos from past ones, building social proof through imagery. Each single retreat page covers name, date, location, what's included (and what isn't), price, and a form to request to join.
